The dutch have given us many things, but one of the greatest that I've seen in my limited history has been the excellent use of the letter J. I thinjk I wjill need to ajdd a few more sijlent J's in my wrijtijngs from now on..
J'ness (and its associated venues aside), it's been a loaded two weeks since last we spoke; a few typhoons, the table of bones, and me and Susie slinging drinks behind the bar; here's the board from the night of the T9:
Bone Table managed a rocking show that Friday, and Reign Lee held up a solid couple of sets of indie rock the following night. Excellent shows guys!
Here's the rest of the week (Aug 27 - Aug 31):
- Monday & Tuesday: Begone, not to bother us ever more.
- Wednesday: El Destroyo returns for some more surf style fast picking rock (9PM)
- Thursday: The Joves Fuego Trio swings in for a healthy dose of swinging standards and modern jazz; see below (9:30PM)
- Friday: Karissa Muse returns on guitar, with jazz friends Didi Mudigdo on keys and Joel Haggard on drums for some straight up standards (9:30PM)
- Saturday: The Dan La Velle Trio, this week composed of the man himself along with Rickard Malmsten on bass and Oscar on sax will bring you a few sets of stirring jazz; but given that it's my birthday, I've heard rumors that Nolex might be rocking out hard later in the night - see below for the Dan flier (9:30PM)
- Sunday: Kitty Ng hosts this week's Chill Out at Fresco session; come hear some original improv'ed pieces and the other things the pros of Hong Kong do musically when left to their own devices (9:30PM)

TBD. At the moment we're only collecting information from potential applicants that think they'll be up to the (unannounced) standards based on the above. Suffice it to say, it'll be something like "verifiable nontrivial commits to projects with any of the following licenses: GPLv1, GPLv2, LGPL, *BSD, ..." with the rules subject to change as we work out what seems within the right spirit. Joining does include one free geek drink in addition to the usual discount (ever taste a Blue Screen of Death?).
