Fresco News
Yum buei.

I've needed a yumbuei pretty bad lately, the working world being what it is. But it wasn't so late that I missed kissing the last pint of Hoegaarden goodbye as we prepare our new quad tap this week, fresh in with some new draught beer selections, but I don't think the 'ger will ever quite sound the same as the 'den when rolling it off the tongue, but I digress.

Aside my own much needed guitar-fix for the jam night last week, Eugene managed to show exactly what asian guitar wizardry entails Saturday, with the Miles Li trio putting in a respectable night of contemporary fusion to kick off the weekend. Thanks guys!

That aside, here's tricks (Aug 11 - Aug 18):
  • Monday / Tuesday: Good times, but unfortunately if you weren't there, I'm not writing about the past tense (nor the past for that matter) in the weekly run down.
  • Wednesday: El Destroyo destroys... and doesn't recreate. Here the boys (and girl) shred some surfer rifs gone rock for a few hours (9:30PM)
  • Thursday: Tommy invites drummer Johnny Abraham and fresh-in-from-music-college-in-LA bassist ArWai Chan to the the Tommy Ho Trio for a night of soft Jazz at its best (9PM)
  • Friday: The 2nd generation Rickard Malmsten band are back to wow us with their original and standard jazz hits. Swedish bassist Rickard Malmsten is joined by Miles Li on sax, Wilson Lam On guitar, and Al Gordon on drums (9:30PM)
  • Saturday: The Ah Hong Trio welcome guest pianist Alex Ho from the UK and house regular Miles Li on sax for some Saturday night jazz fusion (9:30PM)
  • Sunday: Chill this week with the Muse (Karissa variety) and some friends (9PM)

Trivia, and the blues:
(ok, not the blues, the momentum carried me) Here's the last one:
  1. Q: What did Bilbo Baggins have in his pocket when he battled his infamous trivia duel with Gollum?
    A: The ring
  2. Q: If three points are in an exact line (assuming regular Euclidean geometry) what are they called?
    A: Collinear
And here's what's up:
  1. What is the airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow?
  2. What draft Internet specification was circulated in early part of 1998 covering the control of Coffee Pots using a web-like protocol?

Coming up next week we have the return of the Japanese duo, the Table of Bones, and Reign Lee.
